Countryside Demos

The heart of the Country Fair and where it all began.
Watch gundogs and sheepdogs in action, doing what they love, with live demonstrations running throughout the day.
You’ll also have the chance to enter your own dog into a scurry for a small additional cost, with rosettes up for grabs.

Tractor Trailer Rides
INCLUDED IN YOUR TICKET PRICE
Take in the views as you journey to Cardiff’s highest point on our complimentary tractor trailer rides.
Each trip around the Garth Mountain lasts approximately 40 minutes and accommodates up to 25 people per trailer.
Donations to our chosen charity of the year are welcome and can be made in the collection buckets provided.

Meet the Williams brothers behind Garth Farm.
Ben and Ethan will be in the animal pens for a scheduled 30-minute session in the afternoon, giving you the chance to ask questions, learn more about the animals and chat about life on the farm.

This fun and fast-paced activity is a timed challenge to see how quickly your dog can retrieve a dummy.
No experience needed and not just for gundogs, all breeds and abilities are welcome, from Dachshunds to Doodles and everything in between.

Join us for an evening of live music inside our spacious barns as the sun sets over the rolling Welsh hills.
The award-winning Gwaelod-y-Garth Inn will be on hand throughout the evening, serving burgers and beers to keep you fuelled on the dance floor.

It’s not over…
With The Strip Lights performing supported by Hoolah Groove, they’re sure to get you up on your feet for a night of live music, food, drink and fun!
Expect a warm welcome and social gathering inside our spacious barns with an unrivalled view, live music and friendly atmosphere.
Join us as we celebrate, enjoying the breath taking sunset over the majestic hills that are home to Garth Farm.

As the fair draws to a close, the excitement continues into the evening with the Barn Dance. We’ll be turning up the music and enjoying the atmosphere into the summer night as we open the doors to our spacious barns for an energetic evening of live music, food, drink and an upbeat atmosphere.
Contrary to popular belief, this is not an American-style line dancing event; though if you want to bring a cowboy hat and boots, we won’t judge!
The term barn dance in the UK is usually associated with community-oriented events.

Your ticket admits one person to the fair and includes a printed programme per group or family attending.

All of these activities are included at no extra cost, so you can enjoy a full day out on the farm.

Your Barn Dance ticket permits entry to the evening event, including live music and entertainment.
Overnight parking is also included at no extra cost. Vehicles are left at your own risk.

Our annual Country Fair and Barn Dance is held on the second Saturday of August each year. In 2026, the event will take place on Saturday, 8th August.
The Country Fair is open to the public from 10:30am to 5:00pm.
The Barn Dance runs from 7:00pm to 11:00pm.
Please note that tickets for the Country Fair and Barn Dance are sold separately.

There is ample free parking available on site.
For those attending the Barn Dance, overnight parking is permitted at no extra cost and no booking is required. Vehicles are left at your own risk.
Please note that camping is not permitted on the farm.

Yes, a wide range of food and drink will be available throughout the day, including hot meals, street food, sweet treats, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages.
You’ll find a variety of options from our food vendors and Farmer’s Market stalls, including cakes, pastries, Welsh cakes and other locally made produce.
Gwaelod y Garth will also be serving burgers and hotdogs using lamb, beef and pork fresh from the farm, giving you the chance to taste local produce on the day and pick up your own from Garth Farm in the Farmer’s Market to recreate at home.
We cater for a variety of dietary requirements, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options available.
Please note that outside food and alcohol are not permitted on site.

We provide blue badge parking and accessible toilet facilities on site.
However, as this is a working hill farm, please be aware that the terrain can be uneven and may be affected by weather conditions. Some areas of the event are accessed via inclining gravel tracks, and demonstrations take place in a field.
We will do our best to make the event as accessible as possible and are very happy to answer any specific questions in advance.

Dogs are very welcome at the Country Fair, but must be kept on a lead at all times, as this is a working farm with livestock nearby.
We also encourage you to enter our novelty dog show, with categories such as “Waggiest Tail” and “Dog that Looks Most Like Their Owner”.
Please note that dogs are not permitted at the Barn Dance.

The Barn Dance is designed as an evening event for adults, with a lively atmosphere and alcohol being served throughout the night.
While children are not strictly prohibited, we recommend the event for adults and older teenagers. For this reason, it may not be suitable for younger children.
