A Working Farm Stay

Our fourth-generation farm is just over the brow of the hill, where we raise native sheep and cattle and pigs. In spring, you may even spot lambs playing in the nearby fields. Guests are welcome to explore the footpaths, meet the animals, or simply enjoy the peace and privacy of the woods.

  • Each stay includes a handpicked welcome pack featuring local produce and thoughtful comforts - think fresh farm eggs, Welsh cakes, and herbal teas to enjoy fireside. It’s our way of saying Croeso (welcome) and helping you settle in.

  • Our native-breed sheep, pigs and traditional cattle roam the surrounding fields. Depending on the season, you might catch a glimpse of playful spring lambs or see our working dogs in action during daily rounds.

  • As a fourth-generation family farm, we believe in slow, sustainable farming. From hedge-laying to haymaking, there’s always something happening behind the scenes. Guests are welcome to explore the footpaths at their own pace.

  • Yes. Garth Farm is a fully working farm! You’ll be staying in a peaceful woodland setting with direct access to the summit of Garth Hill, but you may spot sheep grazing nearby or tractors pottering in the distance. Expect a slice of rural life with plenty of space to unwind.

  • Absolutely! There’s a private path from your accommodation leading to Cardiff’s highest point, with breath taking views across South Wales and even out to the Bristol Channel on a clear day.

  • We’re currently unable to accommodate pets, as this is a working livestock farm. But trust us, the local wildlife, views, and walking routes more than make up for it!

  • Yes, both the hut and the cabin are fully self-contained with private bathrooms including a hot shower, flushing toilet, and eco-friendly toiletries.

  • Yes both the hut and cabin are fitted with heating to keep you toasty year-round, plus outdoor seating and a firepit area for those chillier evenings under the stars.
